Welcome to the Cook Islands Robotics Club —where curiosity meets creativity! Whether you’re here to build, code, compete, or just have fun, you’re now part of an awesome community that loves to tinker, innovate, and learn together.

Once you join, you’re officially a Cocobot! That means you’re not just a member—you’re part of a team that values respect, teamwork, and the exciting world of STEAM learning through robotics.

This Code of Conduct helps keep our club a fun, safe, and productive space for everyone. It’s all about making sure we work well together, support each other, and represent our club with pride. So, let’s dive in and get ready for an epic robotics journey!

1.   Behavior and Attitude

Our club is a place for learning, teamwork, and mutual respect. All members are expected to:

  • Respect and Integrity: Treat all members, mentors, volunteers, and organizers with respect. Treat the tools, equipment and facilities with respect and care.
  • Positive Attitude: Encourage and support your peers. Show good sportsmanship at all times.
  • Teamwork: Listen to others, share ideas, and contribute positively to club projects and discussions.
  • Punctuality: Arrive on time for club meetings, workshops, and competitions. Respect the time of mentors and peers.
  • Consideration for Others: Be mindful of noise levels and keep shared spaces clean and organized.

2. Attendance and Participation

Active participation is crucial for individual and team success. Members are expected to:

  • Attend all scheduled club sessions unless excused with prior notice.
  • Actively engage in learning activities, projects, and discussions.
  • Commit to teamwork and contribute meaningfully to club projects.
  • Students who wish to be considered for the Travel Team must attend all club sessions and demonstrate significant learning and contributions to the Competition Robot design, code, construction, game strategy or leadership.

3. Dress Code

Members represent the club and the Cook Islands with pride. Appropriate attire includes:

  • Club Uniform: To be worn during official events and local competitions.
  • Casual Wear: Must be appropriate and respectful.
  • Neat Presentation: Members should maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance.

4. Health and Safety

Safety is our top priority. Members must:

  • Follow all safety guidelines when working with robotics equipment and tools.
  • Be aware of their surroundings and use equipment responsibly.
  • Report any safety concerns to mentors immediately.
  • Avoid sharing personal information or contact details without parental consent.
  • Substance Use: The use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances on campus is strictly prohibited.

5. Competition Etiquette

When participating in local or international competitions, members must:

  • Attend all scheduled events, practices, and meetings on time.
  • Follow all competition rules and mentor instructions.
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship by respecting competitors, judges, and event staff.
  • Congratulate other teams and handle both victory and defeat with grace.
  • Represent the club with professionalism and respect.

6. Representation as Club Ambassadors

As representatives of the Cook Islands Robotics Club, members must:

  • Show respect for different cultures and traditions.
  • Use appropriate language and communication at all times.
  • Be mindful of social media activity—posts should reflect positively on the club.

7. Fundraising Responsibilities

To ensure the sustainability of our club and support opportunities for travel and competitions, all members are expected to:

  • Participate in fundraising initiatives organized by the club (no more than 2 per year).
  • Support travel team members in their fundraising efforts.
  • Encourage community support and engagement in club activities.

8. Disciplinary Actions

Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in the following disciplinary actions:

  1. Verbal Warning – Given for minor infractions such as tardiness, disruptive behaviour or lack of participation.
  2. Temporary Suspension from Activities – Applied for repeated minor infractions or disrespectful behavior.
  3. Parental Notification – Parents will be informed if disruptive behavior does not improve after warnings.
  4. Apology Requirement – A formal apology may be required for serious breaches involving disrespect to peers, mentors or destruction of property
  5. Suspension from Club Activities – Serious infractions may result in temporary suspension, e.g. theft, destruction of property, causing serious harm to others.
  6. Expulsion from the Club – For extreme or repeated violations, membership may be revoked.
