Knowing the roles in a robotics team is crucial. It helps everyone understand their strengths, talents and the unique way they can contribute to the Team. It also ensures the team works smoothly together. This maximizes the chances of building a winning robot.
In our club, everyone gets the opportunity to explore different roles. They can build new skills and gain fresh perspectives. Members also grow in confidence.
Team Captain
* Leads the team, keeps everyone focused on the project, ensures each member is engaged. Able to delegate and coordinate tasks.
Mechanical Engineer
* Focuses on Robot design and build, mechanical structure, mobility and performance. Capable of performing repairs and maintenance on the robot.
Software Engineer
* Configures the Driver and Control Hub to control the robots motors, lift, sensors and drive train.
Strategist
* Develops game strategies, ensuring the robot is able to complete its tasks effectively and score maximum points.
Scout
* Gathers data during practice, training and competitions about other teams robots and strategies. Gives insights to improve the teams performance
Social Media Coordinator
* Develops creative media posts. These include reels, videos, graphics, and photography. Able to engage supporters, fans, sponsors and community.
Technical Writer
* Documents the design process in the Engineering Notebook, robot specifications, code changes and team strategies for competition events and future projects
Driver / Operator
* Pilots the robot during competition events. Provides feedback on the robot’s performance to the engineering team for fine-tuning or repairs.
Quality Assurance
* Testing hardware and software, identifies issues and works with each member to troubleshoot and fix problems. Usually an experienced student.
